Considering a CSA Share

The past few years I have considered getting a CSA share and for some reason I have never taken the plunge. I think it is the couponer/deal seeker in me that is leary of paying upfront that much when I don’t know exactly what I will get. But the thought of fresh strawberries, fresh sweet corn, many varieties of apples, fresh lettuce just sounds so good, I keep considering it. I am now considering it here, as a co-worker of my husband’s has referred him to the CSA that this co-worker uses. Now I am curious. Does anyone use a local CSA? If so, what are your thoughts? How easy is it to use up the produce before it goes bad? How do you plan your meals, just don’t plan much until after the CSA pickup? How can you decide what to buy at the grocery store not knowing what will be in your CSA? Did you change what day you grocery shopped, like go the day after you received your share each week? Please share, and do share family size, if you are responding on how easy to use up the produce. Do you have favorite recipes that you use your share produce in?
